Dad passed away peacefully at the Lakeshore General Hospital with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents Emil and Emma Meisner and wife Erma (Nachtigall).
Dad will be greatly missed by his wife Rosemary; his five children Debra (Peter – deceased), Doreen (Hap), Bruce (Lorissa), Dean (Carla), Gary (Anna); stepchildren Pam (Shawn), Kevin (Shiva); Linda (a dear friend); grandchildren Victoria, Tracy (Derek), LeeAnne (Ian), Julie (Johnathan), Adam, Kayla (Jon), Jennifer (Marley), Rylee (Jerrett), Ryan, Amanda, Robert and Chanel; great grandchildren Anita, Mikehla, Cassandra, Peter, Aiden, Keira, Dreya, Tessa, Chace, Vance, Callie, Cole and Nathan.
Dad was #10 of 17 children and is survived by one sister Myrtle Iverson.
Dad was born on the farm in Bayton District. When he left the farm he briefly worked at various jobs in Winnipeg until 1956 when he married Erma and they moved to Balmertown, Ontario. There he worked in Campbell Mine for 35 and a half years. While there he was a proud member of the Mine Rescue in which he was the captain. Approximately the last 10 years of his mining career he was shift boss. In addition to his mining career he did a substantial amount of carpentry work in the Red Lake District as well as building a house for his family.
When he retired in 1991 he and Erma moved back to Moosehorn where he built his retirement home and continued his passion for gardening until he passed.
A couple years after Erma passed he decided one was a lonely number. He married Rosemary Barr and they had 23 wonderful years together.
Dad was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Red Lake as well as Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Peace Lutheran Church, Moosehorn, MB with Dawn Tober officiating. Interment will be held in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the Moosehorn Community Hall.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital for their compassionate care, Dawn Tober, Marlene Meisner, Greg & Kim Ostafichuk for their relentless help and support over the years and many others too numerous to mention. Also a special thank you to John and Karen Gray for going over and above with their caring love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Box 68, Moosehorn, MB R0C 2E0, Lakeshore Hospital Guild, Box 1, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 or a charity of your choice.
