It is with profound sadness, but hearts full of immense gratitude, that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, grandmother, and friend, Arlyle (Gran) Weona Ellen Ellis. She was the kindest person in the world, a matriarch in her own right, and her warm presence left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Gran lived a life rooted in service, community, and unconditional love. In addition to being a wonderful Mother and Grandmother she was also a dedicated, longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She poured her energy into supporting her local community. Her commitment to helping others was an inspiration to us all.

To step into Gran’s home was to step into a place of complete warmth and acceptance. She was a wonderful baker, and there was always a fresh batch of treats waiting on the counter alongside a freshly brewed pot of tea. Afternoon tea wasn't just a daily ritual for her—it was an invitation to slow down, share stories, and stay connected.

Our memories are forever tied to the cabin on Wenesaga Lake. It was a place of pure joy created by her gentle hospitality. Equally cherished were our countless family dinners around her table, filled with warmth, incredible food, and unforgettable memories that will sustain us for a lifetime.

While our grief is deep and her absence leaves a quiet space that can never quite be filled, we take immense solace in knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life, Papa.

She will be forever missed, deeply cherished, and eternally remembered by her surviving children; Jake (Julie), Debby (Bruce),Barb (Ken), and Doug (Soma), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and the countless lives she touched along the way. We will hold her memory close to our hearts forever, honoring her legacy by always remembering to make room at the table for one more.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Ear Falls Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the Ear Falls Legion in the Club Room with afternoon tea served in her honour.
