Carlton (Carl) James Meekis passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Center on March 11, 2026 at the age of 48. He will be lovingly remembered by kids: daughter Angellica-Pauline-children Sawyer Hulst, Kaleb Hulst; daughter Amber Daralynn-child Khloe Destiny; son David Howard Cello. He will also be remembered by his brother Clarence (Karyn)and his nephews Clarence Indio, David Skye, and his niece Rayne Grace. Also will be missed by many aunts and uncles, cousins that were known as brothers and sisters, and many friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Cello and Sopena, his brother Collin, and his grandparents.

Special acknowledgment of Deer Lake First Nation Community and chief and council.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 12 noon in the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion with Kevin Miller officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 11 am to 12 noon.

He will be laid to rest in the Red Lake Cemetery beside his brother Collin.
