January 1, 1972 – August 22, 2022
Caroline Bess Keesic (nee Rae), 50 years of age, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her loving husband, Johnny Keesic, by her side. She fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends.
She is survived by husband of 29 years, Johnny Keesic, sons Corey Rae (Taylor), John Keesic, Troy Keesic, daughters Cherilee Keesic (William), Samantha Keesic, Aliciyah Jasmine (AJ) Keesic, grandchildren (Corey) Christian, Alileeyah, Jenna, Cora, (Cherilee) Avery, (Troy) Mikayla.
Brothers Augustine Rae, Brian Rae, and Andrew Rae. Sisters Jemima Rae, Donna Rae (Shane). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her father Jimmy Rae, mother Tamar Rae, sister Sandra Rae brothers Brian Rae and Galabius Campbell, and sister-in-law Laila Kakegamic.
Caroline served as the Chief of her home community of North Spirit Lake First Nation for many years. She served her community with love and kindness. She was a pillar of strength to her community. She possessed immense community spirit, often dressing up in costume for Christmas holidays and Halloween. This was love for her community. She had quite the sense of humor and laughed with everyone. She had a humble spirit, often giving more than she received. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She served her community well.
She loved her husband and children and doted on her grandchildren in her spare time. She also loved the outdoors often going out on the land with her husband and family to hunt and fish.
First visitation will be held at Harbourview Funeral Centre in Thunder Bay on Thursday, August 25 th , 2022 10 am to 12 pm. Second visitation will be held in Red Lake at the Fellowship Centre, Forestry Road on August 26 th , 2022 10 am to 12 pm. Funeral service to be held in North Spirit Lake at the Victoria Linklater Memorial School Gymnasium on Monday, August 29 th , 2022 @ 1 pm.
Final resting place to be determined at North Spirit Lake First Nation.
