Obituary

Peacefully on November 4th, 2012, Lenore, wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at home in the
loving arms of the Langford family. Mom was born in Fork River,
Manitoba, March 21st, 1922, to Edith and Andrew Rowe. The youngest of
seven siblings, she was predeceased by her brothers Laurie and Robert,
and sisters Beatrice, Margaret, Viola, and Winnifred, nephews Melvin
and Don Stitt, David Bishop. She is survived by her sister Kathrine
Middleton.
After matriculating at teachers college with fellow
educators Bob Connor and Lois Beck of the Red Lake area, and teaching
for several years in other rural Ontario towns, mom moved to Ear
Falls and it's two room school. Mom was a lifelong feminist; stealthy,
yet unapologetic. It is part of what made her a lively and humorous
friend. Friend to many and loved by all. She was an environmentalist,
gardner, social democrat and unabashed admirer of Pierre Elliot
Trudeau.
In 1951 she married our father, Cyril (Shorty) Langford and
moved to Goose Bay Camp where she spent the next sixty years of her
life being a tourist outfitter, extraordinary mother, and doting
grandmother. She never stopped teaching her grandchildren.
Predeceased in 1956 by infant son Charles, then in 1960 by her
husband Shorty, and in 1980 by grandson Kurt Campbell.
Mom was loving step-mother to Judy (Gene) Holt, Warren, and
Joanne (Don) Smith, Leanne (Dan) Strilchuk, great-grandson Chale. Also
left to grieve her passing are Andrea (Dan McDonald) Langford, Reid,
Danielle and Steve (Dorothy Sunderland) Langford, Kiri, Rianna,
Jason, Trevor.
Mom and our families were the beneficiaries of loving care
from many hands the last several years. Her special friends and
helpers, Rhoda Shank, Christie Dufesne, and Dana Doran in Ear Falls,
then Irene Sheerin, Ted and the crew from St. Elizabeths Home Care in
Collingwood are to be commended for their gentle administrations. With
their help, her life stayed rich, social, and varied until very near
the end.
Following cremation a Celebration of Life will be held at the
Ear Falls Legion on April 27th, 2013. Internment to follow at the Ear
Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be send to the Red
Lake Green Committee care of the Herold Funeral Home, Box 237, Red Lake ON P0V 2M0
