Obituary

Cheryl Lynn McEwen June 23, 1968 to August 20, 2025 Cheryl leaves behind her father Tom, who cared for her for the three years since her mother Yvonne's death. Her sister Laurie, brother-in-law James and their children Park, Breanna and Shannon are left with fond memories. Also remembering Cheryl are aunts, uncles and cousins, both by blood and by heart. You know who you are.

In her younger years, Cheryl was a kind hearted soul, known to have a teasing and fun side. She made Laurie a fake ID, and snuck her younger cousin into the campus bar. Life was not kind to Cheryl, she started to lose her vision at age 16. She did not let that stop her, going on to Lakehead University and earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Cheryl worked as a travel nurse in the US, UK, and Northwestern Ontario before settling in Winnipeg. When her vision impaired her ability to work, Cheryl returned to Cochenour where she loved to garden, read and watch her tv shows. As Cheryl's health issues worsened, she was diagnosed with Wolfram Syndrome, a rare genetic condition which shortened her life expectancy.

Special thanks to those at Community Support Services, the Red Lake Clinic and Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital for going the extra mile for Cheryl.

Cremation will take place with a private interment at a later date.

Donations in her name may be made to a Charity of Choice through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
