Obituary

With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Dennis Tougas, who departed peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Toulon, Manitoba, Dennis carried the quiet strength of the prairies with him throughout his life. He found his permanent residence on McMarmac Road in Cochenour, Ontario—a place that became not just his home, but the heart of his story. There, surrounded by lakes, forests, and the rhythm of the northern life, Dennis built a legacy rooted in love, resilience, and family.

He shared 43 beautiful years with his devoted wife, Patricia Reynolds. Their bond was one of laughter, loyalty, and unwavering companionship—a love that stood the test of time.

Dennis is lovingly remembered by his children: Monique Tougas (Joe Marcellais), Derrick Tougas, Christina Collin (Jason Collin), and Kelly Comrie. He is survived by his brothers Rene (Sally), Jean (Rose), and Victor (Gail), and by his sisters Evelyn, Jeannette, Irene (Tim), Caroline (Rob), and Lorraine.

He was predeceased by his beloved stepson, Casey Comrie and by his parents and several siblings, whose memories remain cherished alongside his own. Dennis leaves behind a legacy carried forward by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren—each one a living testament to his love, strength, and quiet wisdom.

Dennis was a man of the land and the road. He found joy in ice fishing on frozen lakes, snow machining, driving trucks across northern terrain and operating equipment. He took pride in his work and especially cherished his time spent working alongside his dear friend Teddy. Whether on the trails or behind the wheel, Dennis embraced life with quiet determination and a deep appreciation for the world around him.

A celebration of life will be held at 98 McMarmac Road on Tuesday, October 14th from 12 to 2 pm.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.

"His Roads Still Run"
In memory of Dennis Tougas

He knew the hum of diesel well,
The northern roads, the snow and swell.
A trucker's heart, a steady hand,
He carved his path through rugged land.

He fished the ice, he rode the trails,
With stories told in wind and gales.
He worked with pride, with Teddy near,
Their laughter strong, their purpose clear.

Now silence falls where engines roared,
And grief runs deep where love was stored.
But through his kin, his name will rise—
A legacy beneath these skies.

His roads still run, though he's at rest,
In every heart he loved the best.
