Obituary

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Dori Jane Beaushene, 64, of Red Lake, ON, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, peacefully at home. Dori was born on Jan. 11, 1957, in Fort Frances, ON, to Tom and Mary Wilkins.

At a young age, Dori had a passion for swimming, cooking, and cheerleading with the high school team. Her friends also meant the world to her from early on in her life. During high school, she met the love of her life and was married on August 11, 1973, and started her family shortly after in Nestor Falls. This was the life she had always dreamed of.

They eventually moved to Dryden ON, closer to Dori's family, where they lived for 6 years and they continued to expand their family. Many great friendships and memories were made there. This was just a stepping stone to settling down in Red Lake, where they built their forever home.

She took the most pride in her family and her beautiful home on the lake. Dori loved crafting, which included cross stitching, woodworking, sewing, macramé, card club, and the list could go on. She enjoyed hunting for treasures at garage sales, flea markets, and collecting anything she thought was unique and special or was a great bargain! She loved to be the hostess with the mostess! She planned and organized some of the best parties and events with good food and great company.

Spending time with family and friends was very precious to her and the love she had for the people in her life was immeasurable. She often thought of others first, and put their needs before her own right up until her last days. Dori will forever be remembered for her bold and outgoing personality with anyone she met. She had a knack for conversation and a way of putting people at ease during her chats. She was honest and direct and never shied away from any topic of conversation. Because of this, she had many relationships with some of the most unlikely people and if she felt you needed a hug or to be set straight she would let you have it!

Dori will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug, her children Nicole (Jamie) and Bryan (Janelle), her grandchildren, Mckenna, Callie, Caleb, Chloe, Cara, and Camila. She is survived by her sister Debbie (Martin) Mackinnon, Dawn Doherty, Danny Wilkins, Patty (Bill) Wrolstad, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind so many special friends who have meant the world to her.

A Special thanks to the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial staff for their amazing care. Dr. Zielke and Dr. Wiley held a very special place in Dori's heart and their care for her was second to none.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 25th at 1 pm in the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion. We are a family who shares our joys and sorrows through stories, conversations, and jokes. Please feel free to share the stories and memories of Dori as you see fit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital Foundation or Auxiliary through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
