It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elayne Irene Vinet  in the early morning of July 21, 2025 which was her 78th birthday.

Elayne is survived by her son Jason (Debbie, Aiden & Macy) and her dear friend Corrine Harding (Ava Gignac). Elayne will also be missed by her brother Bob (Rosa), sister Gail (late John), sister in law Alice (late brother Richard), brother in law Allan (late sister Violet), sister in law Lorraine (late brother William). She was predeceased by her husband Phillip Vinet, and her parents Alban & Irene Griffiths.

A celebration of life will be held at the Evolution Curling Lounge on Monday, July 28th at 11am.

The family would like to thank the staff of Northwood lodge for taking such great care of Elayne over the last 2 ½ years.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Red Lake Special Olympics through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date.

In loving memory of Elayne

She stirred her soul into every soup

Each bowl she served held heart and heat.

A mother first, through every storm,

She kept her only son safe and warm

From hockey rinks to piano keys,

She cheered him on with quiet ease

She ran her kitchens with steady grace

And found peace in a gardened place.

She once hitchhiked from coast to coast,

A fearless heart we loved the most.

At the cabin, hands in earth,

Her joy took root in soil and sun.

She walked for Terry Fox, gave her all,

To every cause, to every call.

She cheered the Red Lake Miners, proud and loud,

Her spirit stands among the crowd.

Rough around the edges, bold and true,

She loved with depth in all she'd do.

Forever missed, forever near –

In every garden, soup, and cheer.
