It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Frank Boehm on September 9, 2026, at the age of 78, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre in NW Ontario, surrounded by his family. 

Frank was born in Tatabanya, Hungary, and immigrated to Canada in 1957, departng afer the Hungarian Revoluton of 1956, setling in Winnipeg at the age of 9, and joining Winnipeg’s sizable Hungarian immigrant and religious community at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Frank spent his early life in North Kildonan playing soccer and hockey. He atended the University of North Dakota, where he played placekicker on the football team for a time, and obtained his Bachelor of Education degree. There, he met his future bride, Linda Caroline, a nursing student from Kenmare, ND, and they had 53 wonderful years together. 

Frank taught at various public schools in St. James, ending his teaching career at John Taylor Collegiate, where he organized many basketball and hockey tournaments, and took students on hiking and camping trips in the Whiteshell and an annual hiking trip to Vancouver Island’s West Coast Trail. During his summers off from teaching, when not vacationing in British Columbia in his Prowler trailer with his family, Frank built and renovated homes, including for many family members during his retirement. 

A huge Jets fan, Frank loved hockey, and played into his forties with the “Rink Rats” team before hanging up his skates. Later in life, Frank became an avid fisherman, hunter, blueberry picker, campfire companion, and moved to Red Lake, Ontario after his retirement to enjoy the great outdoors with his nearby family. 

Family always came first for Frank. He and Linda were inseparable, gardening together or hosting large family BBQs. Frank was a master of the grill. He especially loved cheering on his grandchildren, nephew and nieces in their various activities. Frank loved all dogs, but had an especially close bond with Jon’s litle black pug, Zandra. 

Frank is survived by his devoted wife Linda; sister-in law Kim (Glenn Kehrer); children Michael (Anne Barbara), James (Teresa), Jonathan (Ali) and Lisa (Olivier Rouget); grandchildren Thomas, Jack, Elizabeth, Carson, Julien, Xavier, Sawyer, Elliot, Annabel, Emilie and Sophie; nieces Caroline and Kaitlin, nephew Anthony, step-brother Bill Gottfried and many friends. 

Frank was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna (Anyu) Boehm, and his brother John. 

Cremation has taken place and a private internment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family extends sincere thanks to the first responders in Red Lake, and staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre for their compassionate care; and the community of Dryden for all of the kindness and support provided during the family’s stay there
