Genevieve "Judy" Dimit passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at the Northwood Lodge on Friday, October 3, 2014 in Red Lake, ON.
Judy was born in Rainy River ON on March 31, 1921. She worked at Green's Camp at Nestor Falls Ontario years ago. On April 21, 1942 she married Laverne Dimit and had one child, a daughter Odette. They lived in Rainy River, Moosomin, SASK and then moved to Elkhorn, MB where she lived for many years until her health started failing. She then moved to Cochenour, ON and went into a care home there, then to Red Lake, ON when the Northwood Lodge was built. Her hobbies were gardening, playing cards, doing embroidery work.
She is survived by her daughter Odette (Eric), grandchildren Chris (Cora), Tanya (Shayne), great grandchildren Ferrah, Kierstyn, Jaden Moffat, Makenna Bowman, Owen Callaghan, her sisters Ivy Shaw, Doris (James) Herkes, sister-in-law Helen Hughes and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Wallace and Ivy Hughes, her husband Laverne Dimit, son-in-law Laurence Moffat, brothers Richard (Jessie) Hughes, Wallace (Jean) Hughes, William Hughes, Victor Hughes, brother-in-law Geoff Shaw, sister Betty (Ben) Luckasavitch.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2014 at 2 pm in the Herold Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Terry McNear officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Northwood Lodge through Herold Funeral Home, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
