It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of George “Geordie” Cameron Thompson, who passed away peacefully on October 26 with his family by his side.

Geordie was born in Rainy River, Ontario, on January 26, 1953. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Clara; his daughters, Lee Ann and his son-in-law Allan, and Tania and his son-in-law Joel; his pride and joy, grandchildren Sage (BooBoo) and Joel Jr. (JoJo); and his mother-in-law, Matilda (Nona). Geordie will also be remembered by his siblings, nieces, and nephews: brother Bob (Barb), Randal, Pam, and Robbie; sister Vicky (Lorne), Angie, Terri, and Jennifer; sister Laurel (Ken), Sheldon, and Kenny; as well as nieces Lisa and Sarah.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vic and Margaret; his brother Billy; his father-in-law, Stanko; and his brother-in-law Stan and wife Debbie.

Geordie cherished many people in his life, including numerous friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Among the friends he considered family were his best buddy, Hughie Moncrief, his wife Connie; and his godchildren, Ashley and Hugh Jr.

Geordie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and anything that involved an ice-cold beer and good conversation.

We would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for the kindness and care he received.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, November 2, at 2 p.m. at the Cochenour Community Hall.
