Gerald Alan Hodgson (Jerry) was born November 5th, 1939 in Winnipeg MB and passed away June 30, 2026 in Red Lake, ON following a brief illness. Jerry grew up on McKenzie Island and spent the majority of his adult life in the Red Lake District. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and worked a variety of jobs before losing all fingers on one hand in an industrial accident in his 20s. Remarkably he went on from that injury to complete an apprenticeship and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Griffith Mine followed by the Township of Golden and Municipality of Red Lake. Following his retirement from the Municipality of Red Lake, Jerry drove a mixer truck for Lafarge for another eight years considering the job to be an enjoyable hobby. Jerry loved fast boats, fast cars, dogs, reading and anything mechanical he could take apart and fix from the size of a watch to large mining equipment. He was a great problem solver and amateur inventor with a mischievous sense of humour. Jerry met his future wife Margot while working in Elliot Lake and they raised three children together while living variously in Cochenour, McKenzie Island, and Red Lake. Jerry and Margot loved each other devotedly over their 40+ year marriage until Margot passed in 2013.

Jerry is survived by his step-daughter Elenore, sons Alan (Liz) and Bill (Lyndia), grand-children Sorrell, Kate, Stewart (Jesalynn), Ian, Emily and Aaron (Izzy), great grand-children Amber, Dante, Ashe, Grey and Claya and brothers Harry (Alice) and Joe. Jerry was predeceased by his wife Margot, parents Vera and Joseph and brother Jack.

A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lucky Mutts Dog Club.
