It is with deep sadness that the family of the Late Hans Schareck announces his passing at the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital on December 2 with his wife by his side. He will be forever missed by his wife Laura of 57 years, daughters Lynne (Lindsay), Faith (Shara), Marcie (Frazer) and son-in-law Jules, grandchildren Christopher (Shawn), Aaron, Tenal, Brock, Bryson, Jaden and Brayden, great-grandchildren Easton and Emmersyn, mother Maria, sisters Rita (Ron) and family, Claudia and family as well as his brother Wilf and family.
Hans loved his family deeply. He loved his trains, planes, automobiles, pets and airplane scanner. When we could not find Hans/ Dad/ Papa, you could always find him talking with someone, anybody including complete strangers, ever curious, social and with an opinion to offer. Hans was passionate about and committed to his 45 years of work at the Campbell Mine, including his Mine Rescue years and Quarter Century speeches and jokes.
He was instrumental in the establishment of the current mining equipment on display around town. He played fast ball, hockey and soccer, a notable athlete in his own right at the time.
He loved building furniture, birdhouses and tinkering with just about everything, a true craftsman of the lathe.
He loved to go out to the baseball field and cheer/ harass the YoungGuns. He also enjoyed his coffee crew at the Balmer.
In the last few months of his life it brought him great joy when his son-in-laws would come to visit.
We are indebted to and extend our sincere gratitude to the nurses and Dr. Zielke at the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital for the care they provided in his last days.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a Funeral Service on Thursday, December 12 th at 1 pm at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Father Justin Eze officiating. A private interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery, Balmertown.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital Foundation through The Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON, P0V 2M0
