Dear Heather was finally released from the reins of dementia earlier this year. Thankfully, the years spent with the disease were rather short, and the vast majority of the last 20+ years were spent enjoying travels all over the world together with Jerry, spending time in nature, and her retirement in the company of good friends up in Red Lake.

She will be missed dearly by her husband Jerry, who passed away only a few months later, her friends, her "children" that she supported in her decades as a social worker for Winnipeg Child and Family Services, her cousins Doug and Faye, and her close step-family, Niklas, Lisa and Nils Pokrupa.

Two gatherings will be held for Heather and Jerry Pokrupa, the first at the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion lounge on Monday July 7th, 2 to 5 pm. The second at the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans lounge, 3584 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg, on Wednesday July 16th, 2 to 5 pm.  Small eulogies will be given at 2:30pm at both events, and people are welcome to come and share a few words and memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Red Lake School Breakfast Program through the Red Lake Funeral Chapel.
