Janet Paul passed away on August 1, 2023 with her family by her side at Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital.
Janet is the family spark and matriarch and is survived by her devoted husband Welbert (Willy) Paul, sons Rene (Padma), Ray (Tanya), Roger (Kerry), and daughter Jennifer (Joel). She was predeceased by her son Ryan Gagne and parents Freda (Evelyn) and Bill (William) Bray.
Janet comes from a sizable, passionate and loving family with 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Sandra, Pat, Marg, Karen, Karen, Carol, Bill, Kenny.
Janet was the best mother and a fun, savvy and spirited grandmother who loved her grandchildren Sai, Sheldon, Sierra, Savannah, Noah, Jeremy, Kaiden, Wil, Jillian and Sydney. She would do anything for her children and grand-children and loved to spend time with them or communicate with them with technology.
Janet was the strongest person; she overcame many challenges and came out on the other side with grace and humility. Janet was known for her wit and fun-loving spirit, sense of humour, inquisitiveness and outstanding butter tarts. She would make you laugh and you never knew what to expect when she came into the room.
Janet arrived in Red Lake in the early 1950's as a young girl with her family and was a hard worker originally born in England, she had a passion for gardening and prided perennials. Janet worked many places in the Red Lake area but was most remembered for her time at the Red Lake Post Office. She was a Red Lake historian at heart and could tell just about anything about the Red Lake Area or people that lived here.
She will be greatly missed as she touched so many.
As per her wishes cremation has taken place and celebration of life for family, friends and community members who knew Janet. On Monday, August 7, 2023 from 1-3 pm in the Red Lake Legion Lounge. Please come to celebrate the light she brought.
Donations in Janet's memory can be made to Hope Air, Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre, or the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital Foundation through the Red Lake Funeral Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
