IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Marie (John)
Caouette
September 6, 1931 – March 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather.
John was born in Halifax-Nord, Megantic, Quebec. In 1946 he moved to Kapuskasing Ontario, where he worked with his oldest brother Donat as a wood cutter. From there he moved east to Hudson, Ontario where he met and married the love of his life Matilde (Tilly) Pinette, in 1954. In 1956 they were blessed with twin boys Robert and Gilbert, followed by another son Yvon in 1959. The family moved to Caribou Falls where John helped his father-in-law cutting timber for a power plant. The final move in 1960 was Ear Falls where the family settled in and made many much-loved friends and associates. In 1970 they welcomed a beautiful daughter Dianne to the fold.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved to be out in nature. In his retirement years you could find him helping Fish and Wildlife, Ministry of Natural resources and his several neighbours and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents Henri & Rose, his loving wife of 47 years Tilly, brothers and sisters, Donat, Marie-Jeanne, Fernand, Gerard, Claire, Cecile, Emile, Paul, Pauline & Trevor.
He is survived by brothers and sisters, Mariette, Rolland, Armand, Reine-Ilda, Jean Claude & Gisele. He will be missed by his children Robert (Joanne), Gilbert (Caroline), Yvon (Cindy), Dianne (Lisa), grandchildren, Ryan, Samantha, Daniel, Morgan, Jordan and his great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Thursday, March 12th at 1 pm with Father Justin Eze officiating. Interment will follow in the Ear Falls Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in the Ear Falls Legion following the interment.
Donations in his memory may be made to Northwood Lodge Home for the Aged.
To quote one of the messages received after John’s passing, “Hopefully he is sitting with Tilley, enjoying a shot of rye and talking about what a great job they did raising their children.”
