John passed away peacefully at the Northwood Lodge on April 23 rd at the age of 93.

He will be lovingly missed by his children Jeanne (Frank) Devereux, Susan (Rick) Kearns, George (Cheryl) McNamee, Daughter-in-law Jean McNamee, grandchildren, Shannon, Ian, Britney, Kimberly, Kristin, Jared, Jordan, Geoffrey, Anne-Marie great-grandchildren, Braidy, Jerzey, Xander, Nicholas, Jeremy, Grace, nephew John, and niece Jacqui.

John was born in Barrow-in-Furness, England.  He served in WWII, with the Fife & Forfar Yeomanry. He later moved his family from England to Canada, to work for Campbell Mine, in Balmertown, in the surveying department and then payroll.  His love of mathematics and bookkeeping kept him employed in various parts of Canada, finally moving back to the Red Lake area in 1986, where he spent the remainder of his life.  He loved music, especially Big Band era, musicals and jazz, and had a very large collection that he continued to expand from vinyl to cassettes to cds and had all of his favourite musicals on dvd.  He served as Treasurer for the Red Lake branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, prepared income tax returns for area residents, visited friends at the Legion most afternoons, enjoyed endless hours on his home computer, loving the emails & pictures sent to him by family and friends

As per his request a private family service will take place with interment in the Woodland Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON, P0V2M0.
