IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Alexander
Thurbide
March 20, 1957 – August 18, 2022
The family of Joseph Alexander Thurbide is saddened to announce his passing the morning of August 18, 2022 at home with his wife by his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife Luzminda Fe Thurbide, daughters Jennifer (Philip) Parsons and Tara (Todd) Thurbide, in-laws Miles Johnson, Cecilia Mae and Don Watt, sister Bernice Gillis and his many Thurbide siblings.
Joe was born into the Thurbide family on March 20, 1957 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton and came to the Red Lake District in the 1970s. He found work as a miner and a logger, met his first wife Toni, starting a family in town.
He supported his family, teaching his daughters how to sing and dance and be present in life. Music filled his life and country music was the soundtrack.
In 2015 he met his second wife Luzminda Fe and they would spend their days talking and taking vacations together. They were married in 2018 and she joined him in Canada in 2020, spending every day together once she arrived.
Joe will be missed by his network of friends that enjoyed the things he did such as playing music, riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, and helping others. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Red Lake and for many years served as the President of the local branch.
As his health deteriorated he was supported by the Red Lake Medical team and the Palliative Care team, both of which he was thankful to for care and compassion he received.
Joe had lots of love in his life and his passing has left a hole in the life of his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 102 on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 2 pm with Kevin Miller officiating.
A private interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
