Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing on Sunday, October 22, 2023 of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Julia Sedlacek. (Red Lake, Ontario, Canada)

She will be very much missed by her son Wolf and daughter-in-law Lucy Sedlacek and family. Her son Reinhard and daughter-in law Donelda Sedlacek and her daughter Elizabeth Sedlacek.

She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren: Saffron Sedlacek, Tracey (Sedlacek) Carpenter and her husband Franklin and family, Neil and his wife Gina Sedlacek. Shawnda Sedlacek and Jennifer Sedlacek. Also her great grandchildren Christa Sedlacek and Ashlyn Gibson.

She will also be missed by numerous extended family of nieces and nephews in Canada, Europe and USA along with many friends.

Julia is survived by her sister Otti Tomani and  predeceased by her sister Mitzi Stauffer and brothers Alfred (Fredal) Stauffer and brother Joseph Eibenberger.

It is with special appreciation and gratitude that we acknowledge Donna Ray and Jim Arbour for all the support and good times they shared with mom throughout the years. She loved her card games with them.

Julia was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1930. She lived a long full life. She leaves us at the age of 92.

She was a survivor of WWII and emigrated to Canada in 1954 with her husband Karl who predeceased her in 1996 after 46 years of marriage.

She was one tough lady and on the outside she appeared made of steel, but on the inside she was all sweetheart, marshmallow. She had her own way of looking at the world and made us laugh so many times with the way she went about doing things.

She absolutely loved gardening and always had a beautiful vegetable and flower garden and a house full of plants.

She had a soft spot for cats and dogs needing a home. There where aways pets around and even now still. She leaves behind the furry fluffballs Riley who loved snuggling with her and Shade, Talia and Miss Kitty. But they are in good hands and well taken care of in their home.

She had such a big personality and will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

You can only have one mother

Patient kind and true;

No other friend in all the world,

Will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you,

To mother you will return,

For all her loving kindness,

She asks nothing in return.

As we look upon her picture,

Sweet memories we recall,

Of a face so full of sunshine,

And a smile for one and all.

To our dear mother up above;

"Rest in Peace mom, we love you and will miss you".

As per Julia's request she has been cremated and no services will take place at this time.

In lieu of flowers feel free to send donations in memory of her to the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital fund or a charity of your choosing through the Red Lake Chapel, P.O. Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
