She will be lovingly remembered by her children Herb (Nora), Annemarie, Peter (Carol), and Ernie (Donna). She was Oma to Wade, Ryan, Peter, Tyrun, Daniel, Eric, and Terry. Also, Amo to 11 great grandchildren. She was also a Tante to Nick, Marianna, and John.

Katie was predeceased by her husband Ernst, her parents, sister, brother, 1 nephew, and 1 grandchild.

Widowed at the age of 27 with 4 children aged 7 to 2 in a new country, she proved her toughness and survival instincts over the years. The family matriarch now rests in peace after doling out many years of strict advice.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 24th from 4 to 6 pm in the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion Lounge with a eulogy reading at 4 pm.

A private interment will take place in Kitchener, ON.
