Obituary

Lloyd Arthur Moncrief, 57, of Red Lake, Ontario, passed away in North Spirit Lake on March 14th, 2015.

Lloyd was born August 29th, 1957 in Dryden, Ontario, to Elvera and Hugh Moncrief. He was the eldest of four children. He moved with his family to Red Lake in 1967 and resided there ever since.

From a young age Lloyd and his younger brother, Hugh, worked with their father in the logging industry. They had been working around trucks since they were old enough to climb into them. After their father's death, the two brothers started a trucking company hauling pulpwood from Red Lake to the Boise-Cascade Mill in Kenora. Over the years the business changed and expanded into what is now Barrens Northern Transportation. Lloyd was proud of the family business he owned and operated with his brother Hugh, and their sons, Tyler and Hugh Jr.

Family meant everything to Lloyd and he was proud of the family he built with his love and wife Cindy. Together they shared 35 years of marriage and raised three children, Leigh, Tyler and Brooke. He was busy building his dream home for retirement and was looking forward to becoming a grandfather this summer.

A hardworking and generous man, Lloyd was always there when you needed him. He enjoyed his work and loved working the winter roads. He valued the relationships he built with the northern communities and his business acquaintances. He was a bit of a prankster who loved to joke and tease. His friendliness, positivity and his smile will stay with us forever.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, sons Leigh (Lisa), Tyler (Candice) and daughter Brooke, mother Elvera, brother Hughie (Connie), sisters Maureen (Chris), Kathy (Shane), father and mother-in law Trueman and Shirley and families, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 20th, 2015 at the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion with Reverend Mark Loyal officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxillary through the Herold Funeral Home, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
