IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia "Patty"
Lynn Foster
July 31, 1967 – January 30, 2023
On Monday January 30, 2023, the world lost a great mentor, wife, mother and friend to all, Patty Foster.
Patricia Lynn Foster (nee Woodcox) began life on a farm in Interlake, Manitoba where she learned to care for all things, great and small. On April 28 th , 1995 Patty married Steven Foster and in 1997 their daughter Fallon was born. In 2018, Patty's family was then complete after she began her most cherished role, grandma to Faaron. Patty had a recipe for every occasion, and every meal she crafted was put together with precision and love. Her passion and knowledge of animals and their care was exceptional and many both domestic and wild had better lives because of her.
In 1989, Patty followed her life calling as the most efficient, caring, and dedicated nurse. Patty created the pandemic plan for Red Lake, was the hospital's first infection control nurse, and worked at the health unit wearing many hats. The hardest moments in people's lives were when Patty shone the brightest, providing comfort, and unfiltered advice while following the best practice algorithm for the situation at hand. This meant that Patty shared in moments of sadness and joy, hundreds of births, deaths, and critical moments. Patty was fearless and was uncompromising in the face of adversity. She was dedicated, honest, and had unyielding compassion. Patty did not stand by silently and she acted selflessly. If you knew Patty, you knew that you mattered and no matter the situation or problem, she would have your back.
We would like to thank Gail for her endless kindness and love, Nancy for her strength and shining optimism, Sandra for her unwavering loyalty and friendship, and Dr. Zielke for her unparalleled mentorship and advice. Warmest thanks to Patty's nursing family, to whom she respected and deeply loved. Thank you to the nurses, doctors and hospital staff who cared for Patty at the end of her journey.
In Patty's memory, we ask that you do an act of kindness for a friend.
A public celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 25th in the Red Lake Royal Canadian Legion Hall at 3 pm.
As per her wishes, donations in her memory may be made to her grandson Faaron for a Registered Education Savings Plan. Please make cheques payable to the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0. Etransfers can be sent to rlfuneralchapel@shaw.ca password Pfoster.
