Obituary

Patrick, who was always known as "Pat", grew up in and around Quibell, Ontario with a large family of three sister and three brothers. His mother, Bertha, taught the family her extensive knowledge of nature and how to live off the land. Pat was one of the first members of the Wabauskang First Nation after it was established in or around 1970. Throughout his life, Pat developed a deep love of the natural world and all the animals he encountered in it. His work life also revolved around nature with logging in the area and working as a fishing guide on Wabauskang Lake. He was an excellent fisherman and boating enthusiast. His love of animals was apparent in his rescue of wildlife in need and his love of his many dogs, most recently, Cheskie, Midnight, and Shelby. After he retired Pat spent most of his time watching the wildlife outside his house located above Wabauskang Lake and feeding the birds and squirrels who visited him on a daily basis. With his passing, the world lost a great source of knowledge of the land and lakes of the area and a true and loyal friend to everyone who spent time with him and loved him for the quiet, humble and kind person he was.

Pat is survived by his sisters Betty Riffel, Jane Williams, brother Bill (Maggie) Petiquan, nieces Della (Rich), Cheryl, Linda, Tina, nephews Doug, Ricky, Michael and George, special nieces Tiffany, Autumn, Julie, Jada, Willow, and Alissa and nephew Dylan, Tommy and Hunter. He is also survived by two daughters Delores (Dailen) and Diane (Brian) Cobiness, grandchildren Stephane, Theron, and Anthony, 8 great grandchildren JJ, Shane, Sky, Serenity, Jamie, Silas, Hunter, and River, special friend, caretaker Brian.

He was predeceased by parents John and Bertha Petiquan, brothers Robert, Tony, Herman Petiquan, sister Suzie Williams, nephews John Jay, Tony, Tommy James, and Donny Petiquan, sister-in-law Kathy, brother-in-law Lloyd and grandson Terrance Medicine.

A funeral service will be held at the Grace Community Church, 100 Hammell Road, Red Lake on September 18th at 11 am with Henry Hostetler officiating. A wake will take place at the Wabauskang Community Hall Thursday evening. Burial will take place Friday, September 19th in Wabauskang First Nation, ON.
