It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy, beloved husband of Kim, and father to Cory (Chantal).
Randy was born May 8, 1955 in Elgin, Nebraska. When Randy was ten years old the family moved to Trout River Lodge outside of Ear Falls.
On May 10, 1973, Randy was 18 years old and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was sent to California and worked as a Crash Firefighter. He loved his job there and received many metals such as Rifle Marksman and National Defense Service Medal. Randy always said he loved California and wanted to go back there when he retired. On May 9, 1979 Randy left the Marine Corp with an honorable discharge and came back to Canada to live in Ear Falls.
He went to work in the forest industry using a power saw to start and then onto Heavy Equipment Operator. He loved running the machines and especially the chipper. He liked the contact with all his co-workers and the truckers.
In 1986, he married Kim (Cummers) and they enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting together. Randy loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time out there.
In 1990, Cory was born, Cory spent a lot of time fishing and hunting with Randy but it was also a family event enjoying the great outdoors. Cory was Randy's moose partner.
Five years ago, Randy started working at Showalter's Fly-In Fishing Camp. He loved it. That was Randy's best life. Flying around meeting people, helping customers and then going out to get the outposts ready for everyone.
Randy will forever be missed by his wife Kim of 35 years and his son Cory (Chantal) of Ear Falls. He was predeceased by his parents Alvin and Verlene Heithoff, his brother Rick and brother-in-law Jim. Randy will be remembered by his siblings Joan, Nancy (Bob), Wayne (Marg), Tom (Judi), and Terry (Elaine). He will also be remembered by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Evert and Jennie Cummer, brother-in-law Ian (Kim) Cummer and many nephews and nieces.
A public celebration of life will be held at the Showwalter Base, Trout River on Sunday, June 19th at 3 pm.
A private interment will take place at later date. Donations in his memory can be made to Memory In Miles if friends so desire through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, On P0V 2M0.
Randy, Rest in Peace, you can go fishing with Dad and Rick now.
