Rod is survived by his father Roland, sister Debbie (Gordon), brothers Randy, Rick (Pam) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Annette (Anne) November 4th, 2014.
Rod had various employs over the years but his happiest days were when he started his own business driving his own trucks. He loved trucking and getting to see the countryside both in Canada and the U.S. Rod moved back to Red Lake from Atikokan and spent the rest of his working career employed by Barrens North. He loved working for Lloyd and Hugh Moncrief and their sons, driving truck and operating heavy equipment. Rod was forced to retire in 2017 due to a chronic back injury he suffered at the age of 18 while employed by Dickenson Mine.
He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, four-wheeling but his greatest pleasure was riding his motorcycle.
Rod's love for his parents was first and foremost. He had been the caregiver for his parents for the past 12 years. He promised his mom he would take care of his father as long as he (Rod) was alive and that he did.
May you Rest in Peace now Rod, pain free. We love you!
As per Rods wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held.
If Lieu of flowers, a donation in His memory may be made to Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital Auxiliary or TBRSC Cancer Care through the Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0
