I was born in 1950 in Izmir, Turkiye. My Mother was a homemaker, with six of us to look after, three young children from my Father's first marriage (his wife had died) and three still younger ones with my Mom. My Dad was an accountant with the state railroads. They both worked very hard to support what-then was regarded an average family.
While still in High School I was chosen to go to University in the U.S. because of my leading placement in a nationwide math competition. After three university degrees and some research work, and while passing through Red Lake, I ended up staying here. I built a tourist camp and tutored many high school and some university students in math and physics. Eventually I got to be known as "tutor Tom".
I love all animals, especially long-suffering monkeys in 'research' labs, cows in factory 'farms', horses in racing, bulls in bullfights and all others in painful captivity in zoos and circuses. Please donate what you can, as I have done, to animal protection and advocacy organizations. In support of dogs, please donate to The Lucky Mutts Dog Club.
Good-bye.
As per Tom's wishes cremation has taken place and a private scattering of ashes will follow. If friends desire, donations to Lucky Mutts Dog Club may be made though the Red Lake Chapel Limited, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.
